12.21.05- New edit of "Microgravity" trailer released Seth Talley has completed a new sound edit for the "Microgravity" motion picture trailer. It can be found under our "Projects" site. "The original trailer was completed nearly two years ago with a temp soundtrack," Mr. Talley reported, "And the sound of 'Microgravity' is an integral part of experiencing the movie. We'd learned so much during the mixing for the film that we knew we could really deliver a much stronger experience. That, and with the Gear Room we have a vastly greater ability to turn our wildest sound concepts into reality." Mr. Talley downmixed selects from the Microgravity master audio tracks and sound design library from 5.1 into stereo sound. These samples were then integrated with sounds and instruments created in the Kyma programming language on a Symbolic Sound Capybara 320 synthesis engine. "Remixing the trailer prior to completing final sound mix on the film was serendipitous," Mr. Talley added. "I was adamant that there would be no non-diagetic elements to the sound design of the film. Creating some sound cues for the trailer excited Dave so much that he convinced me that we were being too literal with the film; it gained a lot from a few select music cues." "Microgravity" will have its world premiere at the 2006 Science Fiction Short Film Festival.
