The Gear Room is Slave to the Light's production facility. Located in Kenmore, WA at the north tip of Lake Washington, The Gear Room is built around Apple's Final Cut Studio and Logic Pro. The Gear Room is fully 5.1 compliant and is suitable for projects in advertising, cinema, games and music. The control room is calibrated to SMPTE standards. Capable of 48x24 real I/O operation, the studio is fully digital and clocked to 48 kHz/ 24 bit by a Lucid GENx6 master clock.
Sound design and synthesis are aided by a Kyma system with eight CPU cores and a fully expanded 88-key Kurzweil K2500XS VAST workstation. We use assorted software synths and plugins as well as outboard processors from Eventide and Lexicon. For more information on the Kyma synthesis language, please visit www.symbolicsound.com.
Software and MIDI control are provided by a 16-fader Logic Control system, as well as by MIDI wind and glottal-pulse controllers from Yamaha and MidiVOX. Monitoring is via 5 Genelec 1029As with 7050 Sub. Auratones are used for confidence monitoring. Surround control is provided by a Tascam DS-M7.1 surround controller.
